When should I acid-wash my pool and what does it do?

When you acid-wash your pool you are stripping a tiny layer of plaster reveling a fresh layer of plaster underneath making your pool look brighter and cleaner. You should not acid-wash your pool every year for this will accelerate the need for re-plastering your pool. Knowing this you should only acid-wash your pool if you want to remove mineral strains, chlorine stains, dirt stains, and agley stains. You can also do it if your pool seems to grow algae overnight or seems to grow fast even when you are maintaining it, giving it an acid-wash may give you an algae free summer.
