Opening Duties
When you get to the gate, show them your drivers license, and let them know you're here to work for Cooksey's Lifeguard for the community center
Go to the management office and politely ask them to open the door for you!
Once you drop your stuff off, leave one guard inside so they can open the gate for you again
Head to the kitchen located inside of the building to the side of the pool. Grab the rescue equipment from inside of there. This includes the First Aid kid, AED, the 3 rescue tubes, and the Cooksey's binder
The 3 lifeguards must set themselves up spread out across the pool. One guard must be by the shallow end, one by the deep end, and another one walking around
Closing Duties
Let everyone know in the pool that you and your coworkers are done for the day
Pack everything up and place it all back in the kitchen neatly stacked on top of each other
Daily Duties
Make sure that there is no one sitting or laying down on the lounge chairs
If there is no one in the pool or pool deck, you may go in to swim laps, and only laps
There must always be at least 1 lifeguard on active surveillance. Make sure you stagger your breaks so that the 3 guards don't all go on a lunch break at the same time. (Especially for the Thursday BBQ nights)
Extra Info
Please make sure the lifeguards are rotating. If there are not a lot of people in the pool, which happens frequently, one lifeguard should be rotating out every 30 minutes. Rotating lifeguard breaks need to be taken near the pool area, but do not be in the facility lounging not looking like you are not working.
